FEMA — What NRIs Need to Know
NRIs and OCI card holders can
purchase residential and commercial property in India freely under FEMA — no RBI prior approval required.
Payment must flow through NRE, NRO, or FCNR accounts. Cash payments are not permitted.
NRIs cannot purchase agricultural land,
plantation land, or farmhouses without special RBI approval. Residential and commercial properties are
unrestricted.
Home Loans for NRI Buyers
NRIs are eligible for home
loans from Indian banks. Maximum LTV 75-80%. Tenure up to 30 years. EMI repayment from NRE/NRO account
